Through my animal portraits I want to make people see that each animal is an individual with its own character, which makes it different from any other of its species. For this same reason it also does not matter where the animal lives, in nature or in a zoo.
In most cases I decide against color and for a strong cut to make the individual differences more visible: The viewer will focus on the face expression, lines, patterns, structure… Besides I give a vintage style to my portraits, so they will look like a classical studio portrait: Just like the photographers of ancient times, I want to create a monument against oblivion for my animal model, which will endure over time once it is gone.
